Depression and Physical activity among cardiac patients undergone cardiac events: a correlational study

Objective. To assess prevalence of depression and its relationship with physical activity among individuals who haveexperienced a cardiac event.
 Methods. This descriptive study involved 196 patients receiving treatment at selected hospitals Punjab (India). Subjects were chosen using purposive sampling technique. After getting informed written consents from the participants data was collected International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II).
 Results. The results showed that majority (62.2%) had moderate clinical 11.2% severe depression. 86.7% low level (<600 MET min/week). There also significant negative correlation between depicting higher activity, lower score vice-versa (p<0.05). Moreover, revealed significantly associated age educational status; whereas, not demographic variables.
 Conclusion. current investigation has brought to light vast suffering issues exhibited signs depressive symptoms. Additionally, findings indicate an inverse activity. Consequently, it is crucial for nurses concentrate on identifying early indicators inactivity so individualized care plans can be developed enhance overall health patients.
